I have resisted for so long with you tube....don't get me wrong it's great (wouldn't like to hurt any die hard fans) I have been able to look up songs that I had a hankering to hear as my heart desires, but I generally just let other share with me what they have stumbled upon...some good...some bad.
As with many of the web2.0 tools this application has a lot to do with community...sharing ideas and favourite things allowing you to communicate with people with similar interests.

I chose my two clips because I like them. Lenny is a god...what can I say! As with fragle rock..well I grew up with it and well...i like to reminisce.

In a library context...videos could be uploaded of book talks, and guest speakers, kids story time...all in the public library setting...perhaps for children in remote areas with reasonable internet access this might be nice...I don't really know how the library could utilise this....

I had a look at realtravel.com It is a great little site with travel stories, pics, as well as a section to compare prices from a variety of sites to get the best deal. There is also the handy application of a trip planner, you can have a look at pics and what other people have to say about a place, you might find a place that you had never thought of visiting.....In a library setting...well considering the amount of public library patrons borrowing lonely planet guides and the like they may like such a facility or share their experiences...Library as a community, social space...

Nifty...I had a look at zoho writer and some of the other applications. The planner would be quite useful...I also saw that you could export your spreadsheet into MS Excel, so If you were not on your own computer but had Internet access you could pop on...do what you need to do, no need for a flash drive, just access the spreadsheet or document when you get home and export it to your preferred software product. too easy!

Done and done! I have just had a look at the wiki and added my blog. I then created a page but don't know where it has gone. oops!

Wikis can be fun and informative. Although I hadn't looked myself, there was a wiki made for a recent tour I was involved with. Many people shared their thoughts and photos of the experience, which I am sure was lovely.
It might be nice for a group of friends to make a wiki that each could edit dependant on where they are, add photos etc (although that sounds like the functions of facebook) hmmm...

The wiki and the library...
Well, the Princeton book lovers wiki is a great wiki. Wikis like this can be set up for different age groups, and different areas of interest (although some vetting would be required for certain age groups). Also the pathfinder wiki seemed like a good idea...for ideas! And at least this was only able to be edited by librarians to ensure correct information. Perhaps a youth services type wiki, linking different teams, sharing ideas etc...I know there are similar type websites for teaching ESL overseas...

The future of libraries....Well I do hope there is a future or my current choice of study would just be a waste! I don't think it necessary to get too caught up in all of the new technologies and web2.0 developments, yes be aware of what's on offer and the possibilities available and take what works for the specific library and users.

Although.... it is nice to see the state library trying to encourage new users of all ages through gaming, and other interactive technologies, a place that was previously used only by older students, academics etc.

hmmmm. I am not sure if I have found the full potential of technorati at this stage....although I did find a cute blog Tokyo daily photo, and it seems there is another, Kyoto daily photo. So I will be kept up to date of these pics, and the library blog Adventures in a room with books.
